Making Molehills out of Mountains
March 13, 2006
It is great to be back in Australia again after some wonderful adventures in Nepal! My sincere thanks to Jenny Mallos for writing these Inspirations in my absence. If you have enjoyed Jenny's writing you can subscribe to her weekly newsletter via her website: www.totaltransformationlifecoaching.com It seems fitting this week to begin with a quote from the first man to summit Mount Everest ... "It is not the mountain we conquer but ourselves." Sir Edmund Hillary I was amazed in Nepal at how to go straight you must first go up, then you must go down, then you must go up, then you must go down ... I think you get the picture. I don't think the word "flat" actually exists in Nepal!! This meant that every day of hiking we did was physically very demanding and as we began to experience the physical effects of altitude my mind was challenged as much as my body. It was not the mountain I had to conquer ... simply myself. This quote can also be applied to goals, learning, challenges and so forth .... It is usually not the mountain (goal) that gets in the way ... it is ourselves. The mountain (goal) simply is what it is ... the thing we have the power to change is the way we are approaching it and the way we relate to it. What mountain are you trying to conquer right now? Shift your focus onto yourself this week ... choose to climb your mountain with ease. Have an inspiring week! Linda
