Where does the milk go?

August 30, 2005

This weeks 'a2a Inspiration' is reaching you a day late -
YAY!!
For the first time in over a year 'a2a Inspiration' was not
written on a Monday - YAY!!

You may be wondering why on earth I would think that this
is worth celebrating ... good question! Especially because
I am a punctuality freak ... if I say something will happen
at a particular time then that is when it happens - end of
story ...

As you know I am a great believer that as a coach I need to
'walk my talk', 'practice what I preach', 'take my own
medicine' or any number of other clichés .... it
is important to me that I live my life the way I coach my
clients to live theirs.

My coaching business has been flourishing recently, my
husband and I are renovating a house and I have been busier
than ever keeping on top of life. On one hand this is good
but when I caught myself putting the milk in the drinking
glass cupboard last week I knew I was in trouble!

Everyone has different symptoms that show up when they have
taken on too much in life, when their brains are so full
they just can't take anymore. My symptoms are things like:
- putting the milk in the glass cupboard
- locking my keys in the house
- bumping into the furniture
- losing things

The key is to recognise when you are "FULL" and DO
SOMETHING about it.
* start saying "no" to new projects
* delegate some responsibilities
* prioritise what really has to be done now and leave the
rest for another day
* ask for help
* take 1 hour out of your day to sit under a tree in the
sunshine

So this week I celebrate the fact 'a2a Inspirations' is
late. I was "FULL" and needed to adjust my workload and
priorities. I gave myself permission to take time out
yesterday and not worry about whether this was sent out on
time. As a result I am a much happier and relaxed coach
today and you still get to receive this.

If you are "FULL" right now take your foot off the
accelerator for a while. Give yourself permission to slow
down or perhaps just stop for a short while.

Have an inspiring week!
