Perfection
January 17, 2005
With my wedding being just over 9 weeks away I have become fascinated by the notion that your wedding day should be "perfect". What is perfect? What does that look like? I found the following definitions via an online dictionary: Perfection: the state of being without flaw or defect. If this is true who determines whether something has a flaw or a defect? Against what is this measured? It is not just to wedding days that the notion of "perfect" applies. People strive to be "perfect" in many ways ... perfect employees, perfect mothers, perfect citizens and so forth. Who is measuring this level of perfection? us? our family? our boss? We waste so much time and energy trying to be perfect. What I think is perfect is not what you may think is perfect .. so which one is most perfect? Think of an area of your life that contains a flaw or defect. Consider now that this is area of life is perfect just the way it is! Truly! I am sure that on my wedding day there will be things that do not happen as I expected. Does this mean my wedding day cannot be perfect? Far from it ... my wedding day will be perfect just the way it is ... whatever that may be. The flaws and defects are exactly the things that add richness and life and therefore create "perfection". It is said "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" ... consider then that "perfection is in the eye of the beholder".
Have an inspiring week! Linda
